Sowing the Seeds of Intention

2017 is well on its way and I hope it is moving in the direction that you want it to. Did you set some New Year Resolutions, how are they panning out? Forgotten about them? Same thing happened as last year? …You feel like you have failed again?! Perhaps doing this another way could be helpful. I find setting INTENTIONS really works, not only for me personally but for my clients.

What is the difference between a resolution and an intention?

A resolution is a decision to do something whereas setting an intention is action driven implying that there is a purpose or aim to carry out that which you desire to change.

This is why when you make a resolution and decide to do something it doesn’t necessarily mean putting it into motion. This is very different from proposing to do something about an aspect of your life as in the case of setting an intention.

How to set Powerful Intentions

In Deepak Chopra’s article he recommends 5 ways to set powerful intentions by first making some quiet time/meditating as this helps your mind to slow down and focus on your intention. When formulating the intention visualise what you would like to happen in your life coming from a place of contentment rather than lack or need. The let your intention go and detach from the outcome and allow the universe to handle the details.

Nature illustrates this so beautifully in its cycle, seeds are produced from plants, many drop or are transported by the wind, animal or birds. Some land in fertile soil and grow into strong healthy plants the next season and some lie dormant for years and when the conditions are right they too develop into healthy plants or not.

The whole process is effortless, it’s trusting that a higher intelligence is at play, some nurturing has to happen and that some seeds sown will grow and others may take a while.”

The fact is that by setting an intention, it starts a sense of movement / action in the direction you would like in your life to develop. If no seeds are sown, nothing can grow!!!!
